Description
Welcome to Bhakti Night- an evening dedicated to the wisdom and practice of bhakti-yoga.
Join us for a special Bhakti Night on Tuesday, December 5th, where we will explore the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda and its connection to Krishna Consciousness. Our featured guest is renowned Ayurvedic chef and educator Divya Alter, pioneer of Ayurvedic cooking in the United States.
Divya will share with us the fundamentals of Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of health and wellness, and how it can help us on the path of bhakti-yoga. She will explain the basic principles of Ayurveda, including the three doshas (vata, pitta, kapha) and how to determine your particular dosha.
Divya will then give an informative lecture about how Ayurvedic principles align with Krishna conscious values and help bring the body and mind into greater harmony. You'll learn simple tips for integrating Ayurveda into your daily routine in a way that connects you more deeply with your spiritual practice.
The evening will close with a lively Q&A session, plus handouts with Divya's top recommendations for applying Ayurvedic wisdom to your life. Whether you're new to Ayurveda or looking to deepen your practice, this interactive session will leave you feeling inspired to further your health and spirituality.
Our Special Guest
Divya Alter is a pioneer of Ayurvedic cooking in the West, having taught over 20,000 students for the past 13 years, both in New York City and abroad. She is the co-founder of the nation’s first Ayurvedic culinary school (Bhagavat Life) and the chef-owner of the award-winning New York City restaurant, Divya’s Kitchen, which reimagines classic dishes through an Ayurvedic lens.
Divya began her practice over 30 years ago as an intern in the kitchen of a yoga ashram in her native country of Bulgaria. Soon after, she moved to India, where she became captivated by Ayurveda and the notion that prevention and healing can take place through food. Consequently, Divya became a certified nutritional consultant, educator and chef in the Shaka Vansiya Ayurveda tradition.
